Sevens League Rules!
Match Start and Duration: Two 20 minute Halves / 5 min half time break. Clock will run continuously until the 2 min mark of the second half if score is within 3 goals. Teams must be ready to play at game-time or forfeit the game. Minimum # of players to start is 4. Games will
begin when the minimum # of players has been met.
Any team that fails to show up (Forfeit) without reason, will need to pay both opponents and their own ref fees before the team’s
next game. Clock will begin running at the start of the game time. Team without minimum # of players will have a goal scored against for every 5 mins without play. After 15 mins (3 goals) game will be forfeited and team without minimum number of players receive the loss. The game is over when the time expires, irrespective of the flight of the ball or if an attack on the goal is in progress. Time may only be extended for the taking of a penalty kick. The goal will count only if it’s across the goal line before the whistle is blown. Game length may be
adjusted to maintain the schedule or to compensate for bad weather. Games may be played earlier or later to accommodate needed schedule changes. Teams switch ends at half time.
Roster: Must be 16+ to play in the Adult League. have minimum of 10 paid roster spots. All
players on roster must have registration signed and a picture on their profile. Max number of registered players are 14. Players must be registered by WEEK 4 in order to play in PLAYOFFS. Even if they do not play a single in season game if they are in your roster by week 4 they are eligible to play during playoffs.
Point System: Win=3 Points Loss= 0 Points Tie=1 Point
Tie Breaker:
1. Head to Head Goal Differential
2. Goal Differential
3. Goals For
4. Coin Flip
Playoffs: Playoff scenario will be determined at the conclusion of the league
season. Tied games are allowed during season. During playoff, In the event of a tied game, a
golden goal over-time period will be applied. 5 extra minutes will be added to commence
overtime after a 1minute break. If the golden goal period remains in a tie, game will be
decided by a penalty shoot out. 5 of the remaining field players will shoot for each team. No
substitutions will be allow for penalties. Only the players at the end of overtime will shoot.

Home/Away: The Home team will be listed first on the schedule. Home team chooses who
kicks off. Away team will choose which side to defend first.
Offsides Rules: There is no Offside in this 7v7 soccer League.
Slide Tackles: There is NO SLIDE TACKLING against an opposing player. Referee will determine if first offense is a warning or a yellow. A second infraction will result in a yellow card, and a third will result in a red card.
COED: Teams play with a minimum of 3 female players on the field at all times.
Side-line restarts: in place of throw-ins will be kick-ins or dribble in with the ball placed
stationary on the touchline. A player may not directly kick a ball into the goal from its
stationary restart position. If a player shoots directly to goal from the sideline but there is a deflection by their team or the opposing team the goal is VALID.
Goal kick: Any time a Goal Kick is required, the goalkeeper will execute a Goal Clearance
(ball must leave the Penalty Arc). The goalkeeper will start with the ball in their hands and
may either (1) Throw the ball, (2) Put the ball down and pass/kick, (3) put the ball down and
dribble out of the Penalty Arc. Once the ball has been put down, the ball is effectively “live”.
The Goalkeeper has 4 seconds to execute the goal clearance. Failure to execute the Goal
Clearance within 4 seconds will result in an Indirect kick at the top of the arc for the
opposition. A goal may not be scored directly from a goal clearance. Once the ball is
OUTSIDE the Penalty Arc, a goal may be scored from anywhere on the field. The ball may
not be punted or drop-kicked.
Penalty Kick: PK’s will be taken from one step in front of the top of the goalie box and only 2 STEPS ARE ALLOWED. Players on the defending team must remain a minimum of 5 yards from the kick.
Substitutions: Time does not stop for substitutions. A sub may take place at any time while
the game is live. No substitutions are allowed on fouls, except for yellow carded players or an
injury player. The player coming out of the game must be 3 feet within the end line for the
sub to step into the game. The player entering the field, nor the player departing may
participate in play during the period of time when they are simultaneously on the field.
Violation of this rule will result in a free kick to be taken by a player of the non-offending team
from where the ball was located when play was stopped.
Goalie Substitutions: Game must be stopped by the center referee to allow the change. No
substitutions are allowed on fouls, except for yellow carded players or an injury player.
Cards (Caution) Yellow Card: When a players receives a yellow they must exit for 2 minutes they will play with a man down for the 2 minutes. If the opposing team scores the player is allowed to come back in the game. A player receiving 2 Yellow cards in a single match results in a Red Card and may carry sanctions for next match.
Cards (Ejection) Red Card: Players may not play in the remainder of the current game.
Depending on offense, the player may miss multiple games/ Seasons/ tournaments and/or
be banned for a year. The team of a sent-off player may however substitute for the sent-off
League Responsibility: C.V.S.L. does not allow any protests. Officials’ decisions are to be
respected regarding the interpretation of facts, judgements or rules within the game. In the
event of a misinterpretation of a rule, the onsite League Coordinator will have Final Say.
Fees: This season fees will be done in 2 payments. First half of the fee will be due on the day of the preseason game. The second half of the payment will be done on the 3rd week of schedule.
** YOU MUST pay your first payment on preseason game day in order to be added to the season schedule. IF failed to pay first payment your team will not enter our league.
* This is because we will have the full season schedule (8 games) out by the start of the first week.
League Players & Coaches Responsibility
C.V.S.L. does not allow any protests. Officials’ decisions are to be respected regarding the
interpretation of facts, judgements or rules within the game. In the event of a
misinterpretation of a rule, the onsite League Coordinator will have Final Say. Coaches are to
lead by example and are therefore responsible for the conduct of BOTH the players and fans
of their teams. The Referee, The Referee Assistant, C.V.S.L Representatives AND Sevens
Soccer League Coordinators will not tolerate unruly behavior and
reserve the right to remove any Coach, Player, or Parent from the
premises.
